Situated at an altitude of 4700- 5000m above sea level, Gokyo Lakes are taken to be the oligotrophic lakes. Surrounded by Sagarmatha National Park, Gokyo lakes are the world's highest freshwater lake system which consists of 19 lakes. Within these, six lakes are the main lakes and the largest one is the Thonak Lake. Inscribed in Ramsar site in 2007, Gokyo Lakes are situated in Khumjung Village Development Committee of Solukhumbu district. Gokyo cho is the main lake which is known as Dudh Pokhari which consists of 42.9ha and its village belongs to the eastern shore. The largest lake, Thonak Lake which covers an area of 65.07ha. These lakes have immense hydrological values as these lakes are the sources of permanent freshwater. Gokyo Lakes is the absolute one for all visitors who want to enjoy the sublime beauty of nature from a very high altitude.
This lake is situated at the same altitude as Mount Everest. The eye-catching views of the majestic beauty of some of the biggest mountains of over 8000m of the world such as Mount Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu provide this world experience to all visitors. The spectacular close-up views of Tengboche monastery, Khumjung village, Namche Bazaar, and awe-inspiring views of bright turquoise high altitude lakes, Ngozumpa glacier, the largest glacier in Nepal are the famous fascinating places that are to be seen from Gokyo Ri. The protected flora and fauna and wide ranges of endangered species can be observed in Sagarmatha National Park. Outstanding Gokyo Valley, marvelous scenes of sunrise and sunset of Mount Everest make the visitors spellbound with so many positive thoughts and ideas. Moreover, this place has got religious significance too. This lake system is regarded to be sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists. A whole lot of Hindu pilgrims visit this place and take a holy bath on the occasion of Janai Purnima which usually occurs in August. This place is taken to be the epitome of ‘Naag Devata’ as people worship this place as the abode of Naag Devata. This site is taken to be the temple of lord shiva and Vishnu which is situated at the western corner of the lake. That’s why the overall beauty of Gokyo Lakes attracts every traveler's visit to the place.

Itinerary
Our team will meet you at the Nepal international airport in Kathmandu for a short transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu. Our guide will educate you on tour programs, including information about notable sights, local traditions, and other key things to make your stay in Nepal delightful, after you have checked in and refreshed. Evening welcome supper in a magnificent original Nepalese restaurant giving traditional local cuisine with folk and cultural program as entertainment to go along with your delicious food.
You wil have breakfast and head towards Ramechap district from Kathmandu which is a 5 hours drive.
After breakfast, you will fly to Lukla from Manthali Airport and continue your hike to Ghat which is takes 3 hours to reach from Lukla.
Your trek starts from today. After having breakfast, you will start your hike from Ghat to Monjo which takes around 4 to 5 hours of walk to reach.
Your destination for today is Namche Bazaar. After breakfast, you will be heading towards Namche from Monjo which is a 4 to 5 hours of walk. Namche is a beautiful village where you will find many more to see and explore, so in the evening you can go around Namche Bazaar for sightseeing. O/N at hotel.
From Namche, you will start your trek to Kyangjuma after having breakfast. It will take approximately 3 to 4 hours to reach Kyangjuma.
After breakfast, start your trek to Phortse Tenga from Kyangjuma which takesa round 6 hours to reach. takes around 6 hours
You will start your hike to Dole from Phortse Tenga after having breakfast which is a short hike and takes 3 hours to reach.
After having breakfast, you will start your hike to Machhermo from Dole which takes around 3 hours of walk to reach Macchermo.
You will head towards Gokyo today from Machhermo. After breakfast you will start your hike to Gokyo which is a walk of approximately 3 hours.
It's a long day walk today, so start your trek early in the morning after breakfast. You will be ascending towards Gokyo Ri from Gokyo which takes around 6 to 7 hours of walk to reach.
You will be heading towards Lungden crossing Renjo La from Gokyo Ri. It is a long day walk which takes around 7 to 8 hours of walk to reach.
After breakfast, you will start your hike to Thame village from Lungden which takes around 5 hours of walk.
You will start descending today from Thame to Monjo, which is a 5 to 6 hours of walk.
From Monjo, you will walk towards Lukla after breakfast which takes around 2 to 3 hours of walk to reach Lukla. O/N at the hotel.
After breakfast, you can either directly fly back to Kathmnadu or via Ramechap. The choice is yours.

FAQs
The trek is moderately hard. But it would be better if you are physically fit and have previous experience in trekking.
It is better to travel in those seasons when the weather is clear and views of mounatins are mesmerizing. So the suitable time to go for Gokyo trek is during Autumn and Spring season.
If the symptoms start appearing then your guide will provide you first- aid treatment but if it’s an emergency then contact your travel agency and insurance company, they will arrange a helicopter for you.
